Overview
Microsoft Education, dedicated to inspiring and supporting lifelong learning, partnered with Forrit to modernize and expand its global web presence. Initially, Microsoft Education’s website struggled with growing international traffic and lacked local language versions. Forrit delivered a high-performing, secure website built on Microsoft Azure, capable of supporting significant traffic spikes without disrupting the user experience. In just five weeks, Forrit deployed the new website infrastructure, utilizing seven global datacenters to ensure speed and stability across all regions.
The challenge
Recognizing the need for a more robust, globally scalable solution, Microsoft engaged Forrit to rebuild their digital platform to meet increasing demands. A major ongoing challenge was content localisation. Microsoft Education needed to provide resources in 45 different languages. Previously, the manual translation and content import process was time-consuming, often taking up to a month per update, significantly delaying the release of vital information. This inefficiency became even more apparent with the pandemic-driven demand for timely, localized content. Forrit addressed this by automating the entire translation workflow. Their localisation tool allowed content editors to batch select specific pages or entire sections for translation directly within the CMS. Content could be automatically sent to translation services, with a traffic-light system enabling easy monitoring of progress. Once translated, content could be reimported seamlessly, without needing developer involvement. This solution reduced localisation timelines from weeks to just a few days and minimized project management overhead.
